Hello GK Folks Foundation and our Miss Africa Utah Community.

We hope you and your loved ones have been able to remain safe amidst the current pandemic. GK Folks Foundation’s top priority has always been people. Our efforts have been targeted to comprehensively support some of our society’s most vulnerable populations. We continue to be vigilant and are committed to educating, empowering, and providing opportunities to allow African immigrants and Refugees to have access to essential resources for a quality life. For this reason, on March 12, We made the official announcement to postpone the Miss Africa Utah Grand Finale. Adhering to the CDC’s recommendations, as well as the input from our COVID-19 Response Team, we recognized the need to take this action, and to do so swiftly.

We are thrilled to announce that the first ever Virtual Miss Africa Utah is scheduled to air during Pageant Week – August 11-15, 2020.

We kindly ask for your support by viewing and, if you can, donating to our 2020 delegates platform. As a result of COVID-19 pandemic, the contestants have not been able to pursue their platform goals as they’d hoped. However, they are determined to continue to build their communities and utilize their cultural competencies to lead long-lasting change. We will appreciate your support for their platform. The viewing of the Virtual Miss Africa Utah Show wIll be free of charge. However, we encourage viewers to donate any amount towards the Miss Africa Utah Scholarship Fund. Prior to COVID-19, ticket sales have been the main source of funding for this scholarship, and also played an important role in offsetting the overhead cost of putting up the show. Since the event was cancelled only two weeks prior to it’s scheduled date, all major costs were already covered. For this reason, the abrupt cancelling led to an unexpected deficit in funding to support the delegates educational and or professional endeavors.

Again, donation is not required, but if you can, please donate: no amount is too small. Thank you for your support!
