SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) Miss Africa Utah is not a beauty pageant, it is a cultural Scholarship program where African refugees and Immigrant are empowered.
Pageant Executive Director Gloria Mensah, Christelle Gatoro, who is Miss Africa Utah 2018, and Aminata Lansana who holds the Miss Sierre Leone 2019 title joined ABC4 News at 4 to talk about this event.
The contestants are provided various life skill workshops to help them be equipt with information needed to live the American dream. A financial workshop, nutritional workshop, health and wellness, public speaking, and presentation are provided. The goal is for them is to get those skills to apply in their daily lives and at the grand finale of the Miss Africa Utah competition.
Attendees can expect a festival of celebration, beautiful African fashion, African arts and crafts, African food, authentic African cultural performances and much more.
