Fredrica Mapu Gwyan was born in Liberia, a beauty country located in the Western part of Africa. She moved to the United States of America when she was 10 year old, after living in Ghana for two years. Her parents are Sonie Saygbay and Fred Gwyan and they are blessed with six lovely kids, Fredrica being the oldest. Fredrica lived at Fort Worth, Texas and completed middle school there. She later moved to Upper Darby, Pennsylvania to start her high school career. During High school, she dedicated her life to track and field while volunteering on her free Saturdays. She volunteered over 1000 hours at the end of her high school years. With that accomplishment, Fredrica had the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua and build a school for 15 days. Upon graduating from Upper Darby High School, she decided to continue her education in Utah at Utah State University. Fredrica Gwyan is currently a senior at Utah State University studying to receive a Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science. Her Hobbies includes running, reading, sewing, cooking and eating. Upon graduation, Fredrica hopes to continue her education to an higher level where she plans to go on to receive a doctorate in Physical Therapy. Being Miss Africa Utah for the past year Fredrica said, has given her the opportunity to touch the lives of girls around Utah. She has being a role model for the African girls of Utah and given them the opportunity to see that they too can do anything they put their mind to. Frederica would remain very grateful for the opportunity of representing Africans all over Utah.
